Pros

Superficially looks good on my CV Lunch allowance Given holidays which can be paid back if not used Lots of other interns in this office

Cons

The department seemed surprised to have two interns and did not have enough work for either of us. On a few occassions I arrived at 9am and was not given work (despite asking repeatedly) until 4pm. Was actually advised to read the business section on BBC news on numerous occassions. Major problem seemed to be that employees were very promotion focused and hence did not want to share work such that they could gain full credit for the task. Looks like an okay place to do a grad scheme, but definately avoid the internship programme

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
