Pros

Reputation as market leader in local market.

Cons

Lip service to diversity. Brought professionals of diverse backgrounds as token representatives for diversity due to KPMG Global’s pressure. KPMG Ireland leadership created barriers for professionals of minority backgrounds with stellar credentials and work ethic to a point where they could not function within the organisation (let alone grow and flourish within the organisation). Management / leadership of KPMG Ireland did not allow those diverse professionals to move to other KPMG country practices either. KPMG Ireland leadership / management would present those diverse professionals as ineffective and thus essentially closed off their career opportunities altogether (just so that KPMG Ireland would not come across as racist and insular to other KPMG country practices). Cynical, in a word. Rinse and repeat with other candidates of diverse backgrounds.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
