Pros
Labcorp promotes from within so it gives everyone the opportunity to move up if that is their goal. Being an international company focused on growth, there is less risk of lay off, although not zero risk. LabCorp is moving to a more inclusive sensitive work culture. I feel like LabCorp handled the challenges of the pandemic extremely well.
Cons
LabCorp has had a "good ole boy" network for most of my time here, at least in this division. While promotion is possible, it is challenging to make a difference or to find a seat at the table. As far as new initiatives in trying to change the culture, I do not see evidence that any follow through is happening at the divisional level. Leadership incorporates the verbiage. Training has always been a challenge; Obviously, we do our part to make that happen at the divisional level, but at my level, it has not been adequately addressed and is still ignored as a key component to employee retention. Anatomic Pathology is still treated as if it were not part of the lab: more resources and attention paid to clinical. QA in my division is consistently worked around and treated as if it were punitive. while there are a lot of new tools being introduced all the time, training is very poor and communication as to availability of new training is non-existent. There is no guidance how all of this is to fit together. HR has become more and more fragmented and frankly a mystery to the rest of us. I feel there is little career development and training in my position; answers are slow to come and incomplete, not allowing me the opportunity to learn how to do my job better.
