Pros
Compressed work week, 3 days on 4 days off then 4 days on 3 days off (swaps every other week.) OT is built into the pay in Oregon. State law says anything over 10 hrs a day is considered OT. So you get 2 hrs of it each shift.
Cons
12 hour shifts. They are so long! You do get breaks, but expect to be worn out by the end of the week. Your job is not secure. As a contractor, you are the first to go when layoffs occur. We recently went through a wave of them and 80% of the contractors were let go. The company treats their full time employees a lot better than contractors. Pay is not equal from person to person. I have been there nearly a year now and people who started 4 months ago earn more than I do. I asked about this and they said they would look into it. Then the layoffs happened and now I am not getting a pay increase. The company culture is a joke. As mentioned before, contractors aren't treated well. Part of this is that they are left out of many of the company activities. They are treated as though they don't work there at all sometimes. Also, as a woman, I feel very unseen. There are not a lot of women in this company. There is not really a reason for it either. It's not that the demands are more physically imposing or anything. I would guess the company is close to 85% men.
