Pros

They grow rapidly. IT is almost doubled this year. Also, brand and company have become pretty known. Stuff is very multicultural. For instance in IT you can find people from India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Egypt, Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Austria and others. People are friendly and ready for help. And this goes from the very top of the company. For newcomers there is a coffee with CEO, where people can hear the history of the company and ask him direct questions. Also, there is a entry procedure called smiley list for getting acquainted with all employees in the office and there daily work. For developers there is a budget for training and going conferences. Also, many goes to Berlin meet-ups and share their insights. Professionally, its a good place to gain experience of building scaled high-load web application. Feel the challenges of maintaining such an application, coordinate old and new technologies, participate in its growth. Many of interesting technologies and original solutions. They grow rapidly. Working time is flexible. Not totally, but normally you can find ways to go for your private appointments. And also, there is no practice of mid-nights builds. Developers don't sit till midnight at work. Every year there are a couple of company team-building events, where you can meet people from other offices. This year there ware a ski event in the winter and summer event in Amsterdam. Also there are some small nice things, like fresh fruits, coffee, Xbox etc.

Cons

As the growth is rapid and merge with Takeaway.com isn't complete, so the company lacks of work process organisation. Teams are not well defined, goals are not well defined, so sometimes you can get your tasks a bit chaotically. Communication between IT and business departments is very limited. Old plain JIRA tasks and only product manager talks with “business” directly. Managers declare going agile but in reality the process is still pretty traditional. Development is also not ideal. CI is not 100% automated, no 100% coverage with tests, no code standards, monolithic applications with much of legacy code. I would rate maturity of development process for 6 out of 10. Of cause, its better than in 70% of other companies and all developers strive to improve it, but without good organisation I doubt it can be achieved.

Pros

-Freedom. You are more or less left to your own devices as you bike around town with minimum contact with other people. -Schedule flexibility. I pretty much always got the exact schedule I wanted and could get either less or more hours easily if requested. -Ease of work. Orders are usually not so large, the e-bikes make things not so physically demanding. -Coworkers. Most of the people are fairly easy to get along with. The shift leaders are usually very relaxed too.

Cons

-All issues related to the job will involve people you never see. Daily pushing drivers to do overtime. They'll say "just one last order" and that order will bring you to the furthest part of town away from the hub, which is where you need to end your shift. -Refusing to renew temporary contracts and ending them because they don't like you (like when you refuse illegal overtime) and using a random technicality to try and fire you. In my city, now all permanent contracts are a thing so the renewal problem isn't an issue, but that doesn't mean they won't still try to end your contract on a technicality if you inconvenience them, even if that inconvenience is within your legal rights. -I had to join a work union just because of these cons, since my location had a reputation for firing people for poor reasons and said work union forced them to rehire me twice. Either do it for just a year, have a "sir yes sir" work personality, or join a work union if you intend to join them.
