Pros

Very structured and lots of existing processes to follow, but can always offer recommended improvements. They do reward accepted process improvements. Opportunities to move up or switch function if desired. Theirs a library with audio books to help pass the time.

Cons

Workload can be minimum at times, just the nature of working on govt contracts. Don’t expect to be fully engaged during your work day. What you get out of planning in terms of career growth solely depends on the projects your assigned. If a program is in sustainment mode don’t expect much in terms of meaningful work. Strive to work on new development projects where planning can really shine. Hardware requirements lists are pointless and the production planners can do it. Alls you do is just take their data and put it in a different template. You are expected to run the computer in meetings and take notes. If your not good at that don’t pursue this career. It’s not in the job description, but expect to do it. For some reason program managers can’t take their own notes and record action items since planners are expected to do this. If you don’t like do this do not apply.

Pros

High level of integrity throughout the company, open communications, and sincere interest in doing the right thing.

Cons

Unfortunately, I need to come up with twenty words of cons. When in reality after 41+ years in IT, I have no cons for Lockheed Martin. They are not perfect, but highly acceptable.
