Pros
Medtronic's mission - to restore people to full and healthy lives - truly makes it an inspirational place to work. It's fun to work at a place where innovation is the name of the game, and millions of people can benefit from our technology. People are proud to work here and want to do the right thing. I am always proud when I tell people I work for Medtronic, and they say, "My aunt/mother/dad has one of your pacemakers/diabetes pumps/stents ... " etc.
Cons
The last three years have been tough. Product recalls, economic uncertainty, lots of changes at the senior management level, and now impending health care reform have made employees skittish and uneasy. People are questioning whether this is still the great place it used to be, and whether the current slate of senior managers have got what it takes to bring us back to glory. Everyone wants to keep the faith and be part of the solution, but patience is wearing thing at some mid-level ranks. People are joining the company to get rich as opposed to getting fulfillment from our Mission.
