Pros

Nokia has a great legacy, and I'm proud to be part of that. Nokia is a very strong brand around the world, and work can be very rewarding when the might of the company pushes products and services out the door. Unfortunately, current quality control of products, services and even ideas is lacking. Some employees feel like we're in a downwards spiral. Nokia seems to find comfort in platitudes from consumers/media based on past achievements alone, and overlook the true impact of current shortcomings. HR-wise, the company is notorious for under-paying. Again, living off a legacy, Nokia seems to think it's prior success warrants a "your-lucky-to-work-with-us-Finns" mentality when in fact many new employees have signed up with Nokia as a secondary alternative to more progressive and quality-oriented companies like Google.

Cons

The general complacency of Senior management and underwhelming of Nokia's current (new) offerings is most disturbing. Most employees want the company to do better, and constantly express ideas, opinions and points of agitation. But it seems like (apparently bizarre) top-down strategies suppress such cries for sanity or ambition. (Current case-in-point: Nokia wants to win back the US, but refuses to consider Android as a platform.) In addition to that, Nokia is notorious--at least in the UK--for grossly under-paying. All of that said, I'm still happy I work for Nokia. There are few companies with the reach Nokia has. (I mean that in a metaphorical AND literal sense.) Anyway, it probably wouldn't take too much to convince me to leave if I was offered a position with 'normal' salary and as much potential for impact from a company that had realistic modern-day formulas for success.
