Pros

This job was a dream when I started over 1 year ago. I have years of medical transcription experience and I needed a job I could work from home due to COVID lockdowns and lack of afterschool care options for my kids. This job worked well in the beginning. I could combine lunch and breaks to get my kids from school. I could be flexible with my hours to get my kids or myself to appts as needed. I was able to borrow up to 40 hours of PTO before I had actually earned it. I have decent benefits and an HSA.

Cons

Now that Microsoft has taken over the company, everything is going downhill. I have had 4 different managers since I started. No one tells you where they go, they just disappear. Were they fired or promoted or what? Who knows. Maybe they saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship. Within the last 2 months I have been informed that we can no longer combine breaks/lunches. We cannot borrow more than 15 hours of PTO. We cannot work different hours than what we have been hired to cover. All the perks of working for this company are very quickly disappearing.

Pros

The company offers excellent training and a thorough onboarding process, helping new hires feel well-prepared and confident. The small, close-knit teams foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where you never feel lost in the crowd. Employees take pride in the innovative technology and software being developed, which is recognized as impactful within the industry. (Note: The company was acquired by Microsoft to bring potential for future growth.)

Cons

While the company excels in many areas, there’s limited upward mobility, especially in certain career paths, which can be frustrating for those seeking advancement. Additionally, feedback from employees often feels like it’s not taken seriously, which can lead to disengagement when trying to influence change or improve processes.
