Pros
I can’t speak for everyone’s experience. At 600+ employees and growing, everyone’s bound to have different experiences. What I do know is that 2019-2021 were challenging years for me personally. There were many changes to adjust to, but through it all, one thing I never had to worry about was my job. My managers, though varied through that time, were all very understanding of personal circumstances and with leadership hyper focused on growth, it was clear that the company wasn’t going anywhere but up. On top of that, when I saw an opening at the company that was more in line with my personal goals and growth, the company as a whole was super supportive. I am honestly nothing but grateful. This is the best job I have ever had and I’ve grown a lot with the company. I can’t say that was true for all of my tenure at OwnBackup, but I can say that Sam, Ori, Jake and so many others have worked to listen and to make it better - they do really care about people’s experiences and growth. While they may come off as demanding at times, these are mostly a challenge to grow not for their own ego. On that topic, there’s so little ego here. I truly love working with all my colleagues because everyone is down to earth, collaborative and supportive. The few who come in with a strong ego don’t last very long. It's really awesome to work with awesome people on a daily basis.
Cons
If I had to nitpick, I would echo other voices here that the Covid precautions haven’t been great. That said, throughout the pandemic I haven’t seen overall judgement for wearing a mask nor for being extra cautious - no preferential treatment to those who chose to work from the office over those who don’t. Not everyone has a home office set-up so it’s understandable that there’s a large cohort of folks who want to be in the office just as those who want to avoid it. No one questions why you're being more careful - whatever your personal circumstance may be. While this may not seem that way as a new hire, at Ownbackup, you’re free to be you - with or without precautions. Now looking at the star ratings below, one area of improvement might be work/life balance. It’s still a startup atmosphere of working through weekends, later into the evening, etc. (Some of this is self-inflicted but) it’s true across teams so if you’re looking for a clean 9a-5p, this might not be a good fit.
