Pros

Health, vision, dental, 401k, free Publix Stock just for showing up and putting in your time, quarterly profit sharing bonuses, holiday bonus, stock dividends! Managers who don't treat you like dirt, some great coworkers, some real cool customers, busy, fast paced environment. I have all those benefits listed above and I am still part time! My managers are great and have taught me a lot of the skills I need in order to move up into management myself. They definitely take the time to teach you what you need to do in order to take care of the customer, and thats what Publix is all about, taking care of the customer.

Cons

It is very difficult to get full time. But if you are Pt and work hard, management will give you more hours than other part timers who may be slackers. No vacation time if you're PT and work 35+ hours a week. Your hours get cut at the end of each quarter if your average is over 35, but will increase back to 35+ once the new quarter starts. Co-workers can be very cliquey. The rumor/gossip mill is similar to that of a high school. Some co workers are also negative, toxic people to be around. Some customers can be downright nasty. The schedule can bit a bit too variable at times (ie Work 3-midnight one day, work 7am-5pm the next day)

Pros

Good compensation including not just standard pay, but also end of year bonus 80 hours for hourly associates, 8% of your annual earnings granted to you in free company stock thru which quarterly dividends are paid, ok 401k, and gift card and other associate coupons. Good stability and growth. Good company culture.

Cons

Can be slow and resistant to change. Uses some antiquated systems and software that should have been replaced years ago. Does some things that don't make sense. Some managers can be good, while others not very good. Although these cons may be true for a lot of companies. All roads eventually lead to Lakeland where they are headquartered. Geography can be a big one if you are not a Florida native. If you don't want to live in Florida for some legitimate reasons, there can be limited job options in other states, especially if you aren't interested in retail or warehouse jobs. Standard retail negatives about not having a lot of holidays off.
