Pros

-Flexible in taking PTO whenever you like. -There are a lot of young engineers to form a nice social group.

Cons

-Ladder and ranking system to determine promotions and merit raises. Promotions and merit raises are determined in the previous year (ex: For 2009 year, ranking is determined Nov/Dec 2009) before performance reviews/summaries are written and conducted during (ex: For 2009, Feb 2010) for the previous year. Instead of making everyone's salaries the same, award the top performing employees better raises. -Expand educational assistance to allow engineers to obtain MBA degrees. They are the only top 4 aerospace defense contractor to restrict employees to obtain MBA degrees. -Not much flow down from section managers about job positions in other existing projects within the company in case your current project is ending and phasing out.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
