Pros

Raytheon can offer stability and the benefits are above average; although nothing extraordinary. Some people are here for the opportunity to build weapons of mass destruction. They start you with 10 days off (or PTO, paid time off, which includes your sick time and any personal time) in year one and then that jumps to 15 days the following year. They have a paid shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day. Once you're in though, you can stay here for years and years; you may end up doing the same stuff day after day, year after year but some people like that.

Cons

Woeful middle management and poor communication from leadership - they communicate but share nothing of real substance. Work life balance really depends which team you work with; example - some groups work a 9/80 shift meaning they are supposed to get every other Friday off yet this rarely happens as they are always trying to meet irresponsible deadlines. Promotions are challenging as the most an employee will receive is a 5% salary increase, regardless of how well their reviews have been and with the realization they can get more $$ from somewhere else. HR is not visible to employees.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
