Pros

Work is fulfilling. Engineering complex and interesting and for more existential value than just going toward a stock ticker price. Department management is solid. Large company, plenty of mobility to find just the right niche. Diversity and Inclusiveness are not just stated goals. Timekeeping generally ensures employees do get paid for every hour worked.

Cons

Some departments not so fortunate with management. Can be demoralizing to see how truly rare the raises and promotions are. Increasingly high turnover year after year. Room to grow on Diversity and Inclusiveness. Exceptional cases in timekeeping do occur resulting in unpaid hours (such as flex time hours expiring) without remedy. PTO hours are lean and can expire unpaid. No dedicated sick time off company-wide.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
