Pros

Good starting pay for recent college grad like myself. Other companies offiered much less money, and Raytheon spends a lot of time, effort and money in recruiting employees. Tucson, Az is a good place to start a career, because it is a small city with a low cost of living. It is a good "stepping stone" job for someone who may want to move on into another field, or just pay down college and/or student loans. The company is large enough that there is enough work here and people are not forced to work outside of their field as in some smaller companies.

Cons

Tucson is a small city, and not the greatest city in arizona, however it is the 2nd largest. It is two hours away from Phoenix, which is significantly nicer. Raytheon Missile System's campus is located in the far south side of town, and in Tucson, the south side of town is not the nicest. This puts the decent housing on the other side of town, somewhat far away. Also, Tucson has a poor freeway system, with just one freeway that crosses towards the west side of town. For many people, it is of no use. Being a large corporation, there is often a lot of red tape to get anything done.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
