Pros

As an engineer, if you like to work abroad and play an active role to devlop not only battery cell performance but its manufacturing process, then it would be a great experience. Unlike other manufacturing driven company, SDI has been increasing its production capability aggresively, so it also could be a good chance to experience how to make the stable position and credible reputation in an expanding market such as battery value chain for electric vehicles.

Cons

If you really enjoy and prefer fundamental research rather than developing or sophisticating some engineered products, then it might be a good choice for you to find another job. As mentioned above, since electric vehicle battery market is so competitive, the company does not allow us enough time to concentrate basic research. Even if it is permitted, it should be very limited.

Pros

Medical, vision, and dental insurance are amazing. Many holidays are observed.

Cons

It’s a tech company that feels very against modern tools and automation. Pay needs improvement. Competitors are offering ~20% more for multiple roles. The cultural expectation is that you dedicate your time to the company’s success. This involves never working traditional working hours and always working overtime. Management in HQ controls what decisions are made for America, and decisions are always reactive to risks or failures, rather than proactive to benefit business security, customer retention, and employee workload reduction. Burnout is a very apparent thing here. Every system used is either developed internally, or done manually. This includes manually entering and submitting expenses, mail services are through a Samsung developed mail system, chats are done via a poorly replicated version of Teams, and most things require a long and unnecessary chain of approvals.
