Pros

Flexibility in start/stop times and allows work at home Diversity in duties (wear many hats) Little micromanagement Nice perks like larger than average on-site gym, better cafeteria than most places and company closure between x-mas and New Years day.

Cons

Horrible office set up--even physicians and people managers sit in tiny cubes that have zero privacy and constant distraction. Its almost impossible to have a private conversation and conference rooms are difficult to reserve, which means managers end up huddled in a corner whispering to their direct reports when private conversation is necessary. And forget it if you sit near a "loud talker" when they have a conference call-may as well give up on working for that hour unless you're someone who can work while listening to music on headphones. Minimal on-boarding, training (other than reading and signing off on SOPs and work instructions) or mentoring available. If you don't find a way to figure it out yourself, management will still penalize you for not knowing what you don't know. Pay is lower than comparable positions in other companies and long term incentive not offered unless in Senior Management position. Roles and responsibilities are fuzzy at best. High degree of outsourcing means decreased quality and control of outcomes. Slow decision making process. French laws regarding workers makes it almost impossible to hold low performers accountable if you have direct reports in France.

Pros

Extensive and active employee resource groups, strong leadership development opportunities, clear company mission, gig opportunities that support career development, strong employee support through the ombuds office and compliance help line, and stable company portfolio.

Cons

No work-life balance considerations with hybrid work model, contradictions in company mission compared to policies (i.e., target to reduce carbon emissions with employee commuting to office as one of the top 5 causes but yet still requiring employees to commute to office 3 days a week), some office sites are not conducive to in office productivity (not enough privacy or space), compensation package is not competitive for MA pharmaceutical companies, long-term incentives have almost no value once they are vested, health care benefits require employees to jump through hoops to maximize discounts or qualify for coverage of certain medications, and accountability for department leadership to follow the corporate leadership pillars is inconsistent across departments.
