Pros

For now, the company still offers a very generous benefit package, included 3 weeks starting vacation, excelent health benefits and up to 150% 401k match (after 6 years of service).

Cons

When I started working at sanofi-aventis there was a popular motto that, "people are our most valuable asset." Since that time, the motto has changed to "people are our most expensive asset." Overall, the quality of the work environment has deteriorated drastically. Constant rumors of downsizing combined with little support and communication from management have left people with nothing but speculations and anxiety. There has been no evidence of strategic planning or forthought when developing restructuring plans, and the result is a feeling of futility on the part of people who have given many years of service to building the company.

Pros

Good benefits (9% 401k match, company car, solid insurance). Huge company with many therapeutic areas you can choose from. I like my coworkers.

Cons

Employee stock purchase plan is nice in theory, but stock has treaded water for many years. A very big company with lots of big pharma metrics to meet. Pay is maybe slightly below industry average.

Pros

Nice people to work with, not too pushy from direct supervisor

Cons

Pay is not as high as other big pharma, work culture starting to become toxic. We are starting to get more and more micromanaged in terms of needing to log exact work hours in the work computer. That becomes difficult when you are lab facing and not always on your laptop
