Pros
Since the Mentor Graphic acquisition, this international company has more than 20,000 employees across the US, Europe & Asia. Its work culture changes significantly from country to country. My comments apply only to U.S. sites. Good opportunity for advancement for employees who take HR at their word: It’s up to employees to initiate career advancement discussions. HR has been messaging this strongly for the last 2-3 years; it’s catching traction with the under-40 crowd, but many older employees who have been with the company longer don’t seem to even know the Ready To Grow career development site exists. Flexible work schedule, with the ability to work from home for seasoned employees. Adequate benefits. Good salary (in certain business units).
Cons
Unlike other Glassdoor posters, my product line became extremely busy around 2013. Software development has gone agile and significantly increased production. Downstream teams (release mgmt., software build teams, documentation, training, localization, etc., etc,) are all scrambling hard to support the increased load. Seasoned people have left because of the increased work load and increased complexity. Why work harder than ever before with no salary increase? The RIF/voluntary retirements summery of 2017 have further increased the workload. Working weekends is coming back in vogue. (They haven't done too much of that since 2003-05.) These days, interview questions center around how well you triage work when there's not enough time to do it all. Communications between business units is subpar. Very difficult to build best-in-market product when groups work in silos.
