Pros
Good pay for the area, decent benefits thought the health insurance could be better. Projects are challenging and a lot of opportunities to learn and solve difficult problems.
Cons
Departments are incapable of working together in a productive way. Management ignores this and leaves it to development to sort out the conflicting and incompatible requirements. A lot of senior people who have been with the company for 15+ years, and aren't open to outside ideas or perspectives. When I accepted a higher level position in a different department my management derailed it to keep me from leaving the current department. Management wants to explore new technologies and area but lacks a clear vision or plan for the projects once they reach past the proof of concept phase.
