Pros
Decent company for someone starting their career. They will pretty much hire anyone with little experience. Week off between Christmas and New Years is nice. The corporate/commercial side gets treated better than clinical.
Cons
No tuition assistance, salary is sub par for industry, health insurance not the best. I left after 2.5 years for a smaller CRO who was able to offer better pay, better benefits and more vacation. Your PTO is lumped into 15 days, which includes sick/personal time. If you’re out for a week with the flu, you only have two weeks vacation left for the year. Associate directors and above get discretionary PTO. Must be nice. Only 7 paid holidays vs industry standard of 10. HR and on boarding is very distant. Employment contingent upon passing drug/background test. Transferring roles internally is a pain. Management is very scatter brained and training can be a nightmare. Pretty much initiation by fire. I worked in both early phase and clinical and project managers on both sides had no clue what they doing. When I worked on the clinical side, they hired someone on my team with absolutely no science background to help with very technical, patient facing clinical documents. Yikes. If your work is billable, they expect billable hours up to 90%. Make sure you’re staying busy or management will be on your case.
