Pros

Allowed leeway in how to solve problems as management doesn't have a clue what you're doing. Allowed to develop things without micromanagement.

Cons

Management is not technical, and hence is incapable of properly planning or managing projects which require thorough technical knowledge and experience. This means that the people who actually know what they're doing often have to work around the clock to make up for repeated poor management decisions. Because management is technically incompetent, they are unable to know how to pick resources, so they rely upon friendships and references in deciding who to hire. This has lead to brining in people who are an unholy mixture of megalomania and brain numbing incompetence. You will be permanently short staffed and will be outnumbered by contractors who have no interest in Synopsys' long term viability--they're just there to make a buck. That worklife balance that Synopsys is known for is nonexistent in SG, as you'll spend 100% of your time doing your job, and the other 100% of your life making up for contractor's screw ups. One part of SG can't work well with the others. Parts that cannot function standalone think they can do the job better than other parts despite having gaping holes in experience and technical knowledge, and not really caring when these are brought to his/her attention by management. Groups are cliquey, based on past affiliations in failed companies. So you will have to pick sides, that never will agree.
