Low pay - like all retail.
You had several equally qualified people in a department - so favoritism was rampant.
Assistant store managers were like dictators - the store primary manager was generally competent/nice though.
I took this job because I wasn't finding anything in my field. It was OK to fill in the gaps temporarily. The pay was about 25% of what I was used to making! Store assistant managers were basically pretty jerky and treated everyone like children - talking down to you, acting like they were the king of the world, etc. I was in a spring temp help job that was to last 4 months. The store apparently offered 2 or 3 people out of about 12 continued employment and they were no better than the others but likely were available to work more hours.
There was a fair amount of turnover in management - there were 3 store managers there during the 4 months I was employed.
