Pros

Great team oriented atmosphere. Great decision making structure, in that you as an employee of the company are empowered to make customers satisfied by solvings concerns right then, rather than waiting on a manager. Great training program to help you learn the departments within the store(rather than just filling a department with a warm body), great training programs for business management(inventory control, customer service skills, management skills. Great opportunities to learn new things. This company takes pride in hiring and training the best, and you don't always have to be one that has extensive credentials or the most education they will teach you everything that you need to know. Very good profit sharing structure that puts revenue over plan directly back to the front line associates pockets. Great Opportunities for advancement. Over 90% of district, regional, and executive management started right on the sales floor.

Cons

Schelling very sporadic, have to find a way to adjust weekly unless working in a position that has some type of pattern

Pros

The Home Depot has a solid moral compass. They aren't about sacrificing their ethics for the sake of a sale, which I love. They also hire a diverse group of people and give a lot back to the community. They offer a lot of benefits and little treats for their employees. Although they push their associates to meet quota, they're realistic about what can and can't be accomplished.

Cons

Home Depot has two different sides to it. Store associates and those of us considered "store support" who are payed by the vendors but work in the stores 100% of the time. I constantly hear about how store associates are stressed out by management and their hours are being rearranged a lot, cut, and they often are stretched thin due to lack of full staffing. "Store support" associates who do merchandising have it better than those who work in specific departments. However, you never really gain knowledge unless you have the time to look things up and read packaging.
