Pros

Job gets the bills payed

Cons

They will lie to you, the managers will not have up to date information, the lines of communication are extremely bad and the workload is FREQUENTLY behind schedule because of management/task placement decisions and they will blame you for this. They hire management from outside and when I asked about internal promotions, I was told by the site manager that "Knowledge is great but it's not what we're looking for here, we need to bring in outside experience that have the right qualifications." Aka, my coworkers who had been there for 10+ years would never make management, but the guy they brought in from a French auto company gained unilateral control over the department and started making demands and useless context-less reprimands that didn't have anything to do with the current working issues, but demonstrated that he had the power. HR and other management would frequently gossip about the department with my coworkers and myself well within earshot, and one of my managers OFTEN googled how to get around FMLA and AWD on company computers in front of team members. Alongside this, they're actively demoting old leadership to make room for more external hires. It will SEEM fine, then 6 or 7 months in you're completely dead inside, and they've completely changed the rules you were hired on with and they're disrespecting you for going out of YOUR way doing extra side work you don't get paid for and aren't technically supposed to be doing. The SOPs have little reflection on actual work floor practices, and relying on them to hold management accountable to the rules will not stick. I don't know if I've ever been given so much corporate guff at a job and I wish I could rate members of my management individually.

Pros

Since the company is big, it's a great opportunity for networking, learning new skills, and earning certificates after completing hazard safety training that you can use in the future as well (especially if you're working with Unity Lab Services). Coworkers are usually nice and will always lend a hand if you need it. If you're lucky, you might be placed at a one-person site where the site supervisor is chill and understanding, lets you work at your own pace, and helps you learn new things by giving you "side quests."

Cons

No real career growth. The workload can be hard to keep up with at times, and the company strictly enforces an 8-hour workday with no overtime, even when needed. Day-to-day operations feel heavily micromanaged by upper management through strict policies. HR introduces new policies almost monthly, often adding tasks that feel unnecessary. They frame this as becoming "more data-driven," but in practice, it hasn't led to much noticeable improvement.
