Pros

If you are looking for career growth by gaining more titles, avoiding hard problems, getting more recognition by stepping on hard working peers and possibly working along side a handful of super smart individuals; this may well be a culture fit.

Cons

As a engineer at heart, part of the ones who charge first to roll up their sleeves and wade through mud and fire to solve real world problems; if you are thinking that TW is a platform for you to excel, be part of a great team and help solve world problems, you are wrong, this is not the place for you. The once great pioneer, pinnacle of technology freedom, and excellence has fallen from grace, cemented by the fact that the founder and quite some great engineers left not so long ago to fight for a greater causes. What's left spreads with multi level class system, seniority, pride, little to no respect for general peers and a focus on being a money making machine. There are still a handful of tough great people at TW who try drive hard to help peers, but unfortunately mixed in with a growing number of toxic individuals introduced into the system who are able to hide under the radar and stay. They are the ones who have imposter syndrome, not able or dare to ask honest straight questions and cause more misinformation by rumours. Doing good for greater cause, the society and making the world better place, now happens at many other smaller companies.

Thank you for your review. While it’s not great to see folks who have left with a more negative view of ThoughtWorks, it’s good for us to hear about your experience and recommendations for the future. It’s a fine balance of satisfying everyone. I can appreciate your desire to focus on core engineering skills as part of your career growth. There are others who look to take on more leadership responsibilities as a part of their career growth. Our aim is to look to provide the balance of both. In recent years we have significantly shifted our investment in building capabilities. We’ve not always got it right, but each year we reflect on what went well and did not go well, then we look at continually improving. We have a new structure focused on more interesting technologies, capabilities and building specialist skills. We have a big investment into these growth areas in the coming years. I hope this will help to improve the experience of your peers and new joiners who are looking for the learning opportunities - Renee Hawkins, Head of Professional Services, UK

Pros

I've had a great experience building my career at Thoughtworks. One of the things that stands out most is the culture. It's collaborative, supportive, and filled with people who genuinely want to help each other succeed. Thoughtworks has also provided me with meaningful opportunities for career growth. I've been encouraged to take on new challenges, develop new skills, and explore different career paths. Leaders have been approachable and supportive, and I've always felt empowered to own my development rather than being confined to a single role. Like any organization, we’ve had our ups and downs. But the people and the commitment to continuous learning have remained consistent strengths. If you're looking for a place where you can grow professionally, work with smart and passionate people, and be part of a culture that values collaboration and innovation, Thoughtworks is a great place to build your career.

Cons

None that I can think of right now.
