Pros

* Interesting peers who keep the bar high(atleast some are still here) * Also some of them are real geeks(read dotfile pros, terminal editor enthusiasts, mechanical keyboard fans etc.) and their company, discussion and passion is truly not easy to find. * Good software engineering focus. With some very experienced experts, there's always the discussion on better software engineering practices and staying updated with current trends * Potentially interesting hats to take on besides development. One could be a trainer, takeup tech assessments and so on * Decent pay and hikes

Cons

Possibly now(2021) is not a great time to be in Thoughtworks due to potential changes around its ownership which has brought about a lot of changes around * Decreased work life balance * Shift in power dynamic favoring managers more * Age old tenured Thoughtworker privilege. * At this time, to grow in TW you need to either be a loudmouth / tenured TWer / extreme hard worker * Unbalanced incentives for people who stay in a single project for a longer duration * No correction applied w.r.t losing principles / culture * Used to be a place where people were generally very kind / empathetic, now it's mostly unnecessarily cut-throat / egocentric / political (and there's no checks in place) * Newly introduced performance review system is really backward(losing flexibility in the name of structure)

You've covered a lot of aspects that make Thoughtworks a great place for technologists. In fact we're really proud of our recently established learning and development programs, that help everyone hone their skills and grow in their areas of interest. We have exciting times ahead of us as we grow and we will always strive hard to retain our culture and values - we hold them very dearly. I'm sorry you didn't have a more positive experience working here, but we appreciate the honest feedback. Regarding your feedback on advice to management, we may not always get it right, but we’re committed to constantly building capabilities within our teams. We understand that you may want to remain anonymous, however, if you would be open to discussing your feedback in greater detail please do not hesitate to get in touch with me: shirly.evangelin@thoughtworks.com. Wishing you the best, Shirly

Pros

I've had a great experience building my career at Thoughtworks. One of the things that stands out most is the culture. It's collaborative, supportive, and filled with people who genuinely want to help each other succeed. Thoughtworks has also provided me with meaningful opportunities for career growth. I've been encouraged to take on new challenges, develop new skills, and explore different career paths. Leaders have been approachable and supportive, and I've always felt empowered to own my development rather than being confined to a single role. Like any organization, we’ve had our ups and downs. But the people and the commitment to continuous learning have remained consistent strengths. If you're looking for a place where you can grow professionally, work with smart and passionate people, and be part of a culture that values collaboration and innovation, Thoughtworks is a great place to build your career.

Cons

None that I can think of right now.

Pros

Great culture, very laid back and as long as you show up and get your work done you are meeting expectations

Cons

Very difficult to get any salary increases or promotions. Lived in fear of layoffs bc there were often not a lot of projects so I was often on the bench for months at a time
