Pros
The Navy puts you in positions where you are challenged in all facets of you job. Whether it be leadership of your peers, playing as part of a team, or being a subject matter expert. The Navy has a system that creates leaders bound for success. Work ethic is improved and confidence is instilled in those who work for it.
Cons
The mission comes first. Its a pro in that there is no doubt where the focus is, but at the same time, it can really wear people down. The Navy, especially in the Information Warfare rates will struggle to retain good sailors because the pay and working hours are better in the civilian side of the job. While not every process is broken, the Navy often feels unadaptable in that the "well thats how its always been done, so we wont change it" mindset is. It feels like, the life and strain the military puts on lower enlisted sailors has plenty of answers but since the leaders had it rough when they were younger, they feel sailors should just deal with that bad conditions instead of looking for an improvement on the process.
