Pros

Builds character, allows you to meet people from all over and you learn how to handle difficult situations, Your constantly praised, Work is not hard, its the mental challenges you have to face and once youve done that everything is easy.

Cons

If you go surface fleet be prepared to hear alot of team but when it comes time for someone to have your back, you will be solo. I recomend submarines. Also surface fleet is very hard to be promoted. Ive seen people in 8 years just making it to e-5 where i was e-5 within 3 years of becoming a submariner and i didnt even go into no special program.

Pros

It is what you make out of it. You'll have good days and bad days. It's all dependent on your leadership. That can make or break the command. Medical is free, but can take a while to get seen. You'll meet a lot of new people and could travel around the world depending on your duty station. Education benefits and training.

Cons

Medical can take a while to get seen, unless it's an emergency. If you're single, the pay isn't that great, but you don't have to much to worry about for bills if you live on base. If you're on sea duty billet, your work life balance will be terrible.
