      Pros

      Today not very much. In years gone by, civil service was rewarded with some security and good health benefits. Job security was a plus. Today, jobs are eliminated at discretion of DOD budget cuts.

      DOD downsizing and privitization - fewer civil service employees and more and more contract positions
