Pros

Serving my country has been extremely rewarding. I've enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie. Through a turbulent economy I've had faith that I would have a job. The total compensation includes tuition assistance while on active duty as well as a fund for education later. The medical coverage is free, though the quality is far from the best care.

Cons

Many of the leaders I've worked for have not been competent as leaders. Many did not have the technical experience to be in the postions they were, and generally even less leadership ability. In many ways the Navy can be much more like a fraternity than a military.
