Pros

Good company, great renumeration ,good products.

Cons

Actually Vmware has no Cons, Its a good company. The problem is with the IT-Bangalore, All Leaders in IT-Bangalore are STUPID, Boot-Lickers,selfish,arrogant. If you are good in Boot-Licking and dont want to do any work or progress technically you join IT- In BANGALORE. You will flourish. It was headed by one person who has been moved out which is a good move. Please do the same to all the Directors,Sr-Managers who were reporting to him. Here you address your managers as ---"Sir" --Crap, The people who have self-respect will never do it. I was one of them and was targeted which I did not care. I left the company for my good and got a offer 20 times better than VMware because of my Knowledge, My offer with VMware was one of the best. I was there for 2 years so I have a very clear understanding of how it works. Dell Team, Please clean IT -bangalore, lot of duplicate jobs are there only because of Boot-Licking ,no ethics, no proper-work culture, contractors are being paid for no reason, you will flourish after the new acquisition if you tackle this. EMC is a great company which you have acquired and I have worked there also, EMC is a far-better and a consistent company than VMware. Best of Luck for your endeveour DELL...., Lets see VMware gain it shine from Dell Management.

Pros

VMware is a big company but in many ways had a startup vibe. That was great because the resources and infrastructure of a big company were there, but it gave most people I worked with freedom to work on many projects, influence, move around, and contribute in many ways. Plus, many things moved faster than they might at other companies of the same size. Perks were really great including bonuses, events on the campus, opportunities, etc.

Cons

The biggest con is the annual layoff. During most of the years I was there, we were growing like crazy, beating expectations, gaining in stock price, etc. It was always positive and upward. However, every single January, it was known that there would be a round of layoffs, even when all numbers were looking great as they almost always were. Management called it restructuring. But, over the years, some really good people were let go for no apparent reason. Then to add insult to injury, a week or two later, there would be a company quarterly meeting discussing how VMware was doing so well and is still hiring, but they had to make some changes. It always felt dishonest and the sympathy for those let go came across as disingenuous.
