Pros
Standard benefits like unlimited time off, 401k matching, decent insurance programs. If you like playing politics and can get in the in-crowd with one of the favorite-playing managers, it could be a pretty cushy job.
Cons
If only it were possible to give this .... place... 0 stars. Senior leadership turnover is ridiculously high, resulting in no vision or comprehensible roadmap whatsoever. Technology is dated, code base is a disaster, and engineers aren't allowed to work on meaningful improvements since management is always trying to cover its rear end and make it look like their team is producing something useful. Literally every single demo I have ever sat through is 100% fake, the team involved wasn't given the resources to implement the solution properly, but they just need to pull the wool over the eyes of their investors and customers. They are always hiring but at the same time laying people off, then complaining they lack the skill sets that they just got rid of through their lay offs. VP level and higher show no empathy or caring for engineering staff and cares only about penny-pinching, even about things that will be detrimental to talent retention and morale. We used to have meaningful peer recognition programs in place, but after being told this program put us "over budget", we are no longer allowed to use it. The "old boys club" is alive and well in this place, with managers only promoting their personal friends and laying off those they aren't best buddies with. With the chaos inside and the slow decline in market share for Veritas's outdated and poorly coded products, I don't see this company having a bright future.
