Pros
Some of the people there are the best in the industry; smart, engaged and going the extra mile for customers. There's still a "can do" attitude in the face of very difficult times for the company. The backing of Dell/EMC has helped accelerate customer wins in some cases. The pay can be fantastic, especially for long term employees, but it's also very variable, 2 people in the same role could have wildly disparate salaries especially when options are factored in. Some of the recent promotions have been well deserved and taking people who can make a difference to help lead the company forward. This was a 5 start company and can be again, but needs a lot of work and a cohesive vision that's not being well articulated (or perhaps doesn't exist).
Cons
Forward to where? This company has lacked a real vision for who they want to be and how they will get there for a long time. It's been years since there's been a significant new product released where competitors are releasing monthly. The "sell what's on the truck" mantra to sales is growing very tiresome; it's impossible to sell what doesn't (but should) exist. What was innovative is now table stakes and Virustream is having trouble keeping up with the very real competition that's releasing products on a regular cadence. A lot of the employees are waiting for the next WFR and those who have been cut, unfortunately, are often not the weakest but those with the clout to get their names on the list for a paid vacation or retirement package.
