Pros

15% discount on most items, 20% discount on Walgreen brand items. Profit sharing. Flexible schedule. Shift Leads can not be transferred since they are not management. Holiday pay.

Cons

When I first started with the company over 10 years ago, you received an extensive amount of training that prepared you for your first day on your own. Now you only get a week at max and you are on your own. If after a few weeks you are still not performing up to expectations you are disciplined. Pay has been decreased by a lot. I took a 25% pay cut when the company restructured in April 2014. The company continues to put more on our plate without giving us any extra hours to be able to get the job done. When they job does not get done across the company, they add it to a KPI to monitor it more closely show they can send out daily emails asking why stuff is not getting done and what are we doing to improve it. The company operates at normal store hours every day of the year 8 am till 10 pm. The main reason they are making so many cuts is due to the purchase of a European company to set them up for a global market since they have maxed out in the US market. This was not a cheap buy so to please the share holders they have to make cuts where they can to make sure the stocks don't suffer. As with most public companies, the share holders come first, customers second and employees last. You no longer get sick days. You must use your PTO time to be paid. If you call off 9 times in a year you lose your job.

Pros

Gave me decent pay. Bought us little gifts and food at holidays.

Cons

Gave away one of my paychecks to another employee and refused to reimburse me because of issues with "their bank." My RxM created a hostile work environment showing clear favoritism for employees. Eventually, HR got involved, and I was no longer scheduled with him. I did not ask for this change, and actively resented it, because now I had fewer hours, meaning less pay on top of the $500 corporate had already stolen from me. They had no interest in training me or anyone else to become certified as promised. Over and over again, they hired people, ran out the time on their licenses, and let techs choose between paying to get certified elsewhere, or losing their jobs. The only thing Walgreens was passionate about was convincing patients that they couldn't even provide their regular medications to get vaccines. Often unneeded. The "patient care" calls are blatant and illegal marketing for vaccines, since Walgreens makes it next to impossible for a patient to opt out of it. I would NEVER get my medications here after seeing how poorly everything is managed, how unethical company policies and patient health were regarded, and how mistreated the staff were.
