Underpaid, poorly trained, dead-end job. - Photo Specialist Walmart Employee Review

Pros

If you work in a department with nice coworkers, it can be bearable.

Cons

Far too many part time employees, and not enough full time ones (so they don't have to give out benefits). Working for one of the richest companies in North America, but not earning a living wage. I was working in the photo lab, and would often have to cover the electronics department by myself, something which I was never trained to do. I was closing by myself after only two short shifts, and had to deal with a lot of situations which I was never trained for. Made to cover for people on breaks, even though I never was till trained (which they were fully aware of). Having to work with rude, gossipy individuals with poor hygiene. Having to participate in chants at the beginning of shifts- it felt like cult brainwashing more than it felt motivating.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
