Pros

Fair wages and decent benefits that have consistently declined over the years. Nice company picnic w generous doorprizes -basically an attempt to be “ family oriented”

Cons

Over many years, I have witnessed my fair share of shady acts by management, from lying to your face to ignoring safety issues and suggestions. But what I witnessed today was one of the worst demonstrations of bias and disregard for loyal employees I have ever seen. Without any warning, 20 people were plucked right off the manufacturing floor, taken into an office and—- TERMINATED. Not a lay off, but a legitimate termination. This took away much needed benefits and salaries at a time when the financial future is already uncertain, We are lucky as essential workers to still be able to work, and they took away this tiny bit of security and basically told these shocked people to just get unemployment, NO SEVERANCE, no notice- just SEE YA These people ranged in age from 19-65 and their length of service was anywhere from a year to 30+ years!! There was no common factor as to why they were selected . Two of the people were touted as being top production achievers. Among them, no one had attendance issues, None of them had disciplinary actions for any reason and a few even traveled outside the country to help open a new plant in Mexico! They were released due to covid 19- so THIS is what you can expect. After spending more than half your life you too can carry your belongings out in front of your coworkers and experience the humiliation of everyone asking what you did to get fired, Use the provided answer-that you were dumb enough to devote years to a job that kicks their employees to the curb and tells them to depend on the government. This is very scary for those of us still here - this is why I will not post my position- management will retaliate -

The spread of the coronavirus and the resulting economic crisis is unprecedented and has had an immediate and drastic impact on our entire business. Unfortunately, we had to make tough decisions regarding operations and employment to protect our future. While these decisions aren’t easy, we specifically took steps to ensure that those impacted were positioned to maximize their income from a combination of Worthington severance and healthcare coverage and government benefits. We would encourage you to talk to the leadership team at your facility, and utilize the Open Door policy if you see fit, to understand all of the measures taken to ensure these employees were put in the best situation possible at this time.
