Pros

Typical M-F 8-5 They offer severance packages incase you get fired without notice

Cons

The direction is more of a up and down instead of more working across the departments to get answers and communication done efficiently. The women engineers are often found hard to approach due to their boss’s history. Coaching and counseling aren’t a thing, it just gets placed against your performance. Women start out 53K while the men start out 56K Engineers have to clock out of BID work orders. Sent drawing into checking? Clock out of customer bid work order. Do a preorder for a project? Clock out of a customer bid order. Send submittal package. Clock out of a customer bid order. ... a lot of clocking out of Bid orders and you even have to clock out for lunch because you can’t be eating and not working even though you get 40 hours for the week. Boss will mess with your Kronos if you upset her. Boss will tattle to HR and her boss before she tells you her expectations and this is for all legit acts of pettiness.. she doesn’t have good people skills. I watched her deliberately try to persona how someone isn’t efficient enough but truth is there wasn’t enough training, boss assumes that everyone has had the same training. She will cut throat an engineer even if the proof is on the computers, HR will not investigate situations. She is literally allowed to put anything on paper even if it isn’t true. She hasn’t got a grasp on her job like she should have after 2 years, she says things like “ I’m not sure I want to do this anymore”, “well after the 4 butt chewings I received today, I’m probably getting fired”, “ well, we got another lawsuit” Openly and loosely in front of the new engineers She’s had more outbursts, drama breakdowns, and bullying backbiting than any manager I have ever met. She gets others to do her presentations, her email etiquette responses and if you have a bright idea, she’s runs with it to take credit. She talks down about her team to others with the door open! She doesn’t address what her expectations are throroughly, it may be one way this week and then changed the next because someone did it differently and didn’t address it to the team. There is a lot of “out for oneself” in this department. It isn’t a good one if you particularly enjoy communication. In the beginning of your career, you will be thrown drawings and told to fix it this way without history of why or how. Or as I saw for myself for the younger engineers, they will tell you what number to swap out with, what side to make this rail vs the other side and how to change the description. ... how are they going to learn what a predecessor is or a reference? Boss would rather someone feel defeated then take her time to coach for understanding or train, she rather wait for a Thursday for training so that the eldest engineer can do it. To enforce her “wants” she indirectly directly makes her statement.. such as. “ corporate has sent out an email about everyone’s dress code and no more sandals, jogging pants, hoody, ripped jeans or tee shirts will no longer be allowed..” corporate, did y’all make such a request in November 2019? Seems like a “NORTRAK all email would have been sent out instead and boss could have just left her door close and avoid her team like she always did. The name changed 3 times in the 1.5 years I was here. Maybe due to the lawsuits?

Pros

Compensated after closing facility which was generous. Good benefits. Good coworkers and management

Cons

Prior to closure business was slow (obviously) and for years prior they said they didn't plan to close until they did. Also low cost of living raise in a very expensive area.
