Pros

*Hire recent college grads *Outstanding training program *Good foundation for business basics, with exposure to all areas of business (accounting, management, marketing, sales, etc.) *The experience looks good on a resume

Cons

*Hours are very very long *Pay is very very low *Advancing in the company is NOT available *Sales is the only criteria for promotion in a management job *Upper management spends little to no time listening to employees *Washing cars in business dress *Retail hours are unflexible for personal life (doctor's appointments, etc.) *Generally unpleasent job description (mostly unhappy customers, washing cars, pushing insurance, running out of cars) *Money is number one

Pros

Fun, Friendly, not always in the office, great way to learn how to run a business for your self, great training. You learn many aspects of running a business from reading an income statement to going out marketing to gain new business or grow current business.

Cons

We do sell out and customer are left with out vehicles. It is Retail sales so you could imagine the customer service level you must have in order to sustain customers from becoming furious. You do work long hours as an assistant and branch manager. Oh yeah, you do start from the bottom, work your way up......yes, even having to wash cars in your suits and ties.

Pros

Lots of experience managing other employees, managing relationships with your accounts (dealerships, body shops, corporate), plenty of locations all around the country, gives you the feeling you run the business from the ground up, the work rarely follows you home, when you leave the office you're "off."

Cons

Exhausting, both emotionally and physically. Washing cars in a shirt and tie every day. Long days which start at 6:30 or 6:45 am and run until 6:30 pm or later, depending on your situation. Not a lot of work-life balance here. You can't transfer to another part of the country without taking a demotion and a salary reduction. Customers can be very irritating and hostile. Accounts can be very demanding and annoying as well. You get treated like trash by both quite often, which takes its toll on you all the time. You feel very much like you're slugging it out like a waiter or some other service-type job, not like an executive.
