Pros
- You get to drive some lovely cars such as BMWs, Mercs and brand new car stock. - For the right person, progression can be quick and effective. - If you are a good salesman/woman, there are some good incentives.
Cons
Where do I start?!..... - Mega long hours 50-56 hours a week - zero work/social life balance - very difficult if you are in a relationship. - Clean cars and vans in your suit so you look a complete mess when you serve customers. - Spend 90% day driving around picking up, dropping off customers, as well as delivering and collecting corporate deliveries - ERAC prides itself on picking up and dropping off customers for free, sometimes this puts a lot of stress on the management as there is a lack of staff when the branch suddenly becomes busy and there is only the manager present. - You are required to record a 30min lunch break on your timesheet when you do not have the time to have lunch!!! Of course, this affects the potential "Overtime" you could be receiving. - During training you are told that every Trainee is entitled to overtime over 50 hours per week..... However, you aren't told that this only occurs when the total monthly hours is over 200 hours! - The pay is incredibly low for the hours worked - £20k on 50+ hours a week.... Appalling! - Assistant and Branch managers are always stressed out and constently under pressure as they are always short of vehicles.... Reservations will keep on being sent through to the branches even though they have no cars to provide the customer.... This can be very awkward at times... - Lack of appreciation for hard work- felt very unrewarded when working hard especailly after travelling 3-4 hours round trip to swap a vehicle. - When out on the road, be prepared to receive a call from the branch asking where you are and if you can get there ASAP.... This of course puts pressure on the trainee and could put them at risk of an accident. - Very clicky environment- only those who make lots of revenue for the branch will become promoted to the next stage. - Very, very high turnover of staff - every month there would be assessment days recruitment new trainees... Very strange! - Very American culture in terms of business politics - pyramid hierachy!
