Pros

This position is different than any financial analyst position I've been in or heard of. It allows you to grow in many different ways, including paths outside of the standard financial analyst position. The people you work with are great and you truly get to build relationships with hospital leadership and help them understand Epic and how to interpret their reports.

Cons

This role can sometimes be hard for someone who expects the typical ladder and standard role changes/promotions. You need to proactively find what you want to do and go get it; if you sit around and wait for team leadership to tell you what to do or how you can help, you may not like the role as much.

Pros

Epic has an amazing culture that has stayed strong, even with the crazy growth year over year. Unlike some who start at Epic right out of college, I've had work experience prior to Epic and I greatly appreciate the big and small things that Epic provides for their employees that many other companies don't. To name just a few: relaxed dress code, amazing low-cost lunches, extremely smart & driven employees who push everyone to do better, monthly all-staff meetings where Epic leaders share information and their perspective, the ability to transfer roles within the company if you prove yourself a good employee, flexible hours... the list goes on. I don't plan on leaving Epic any time soon and feel extremely lucky for having stumbled upon this opportunity over a decade ago.

Cons

At Epic, a role doesn't allow you to put blinders on to only do the items that your role specifically owns. That means you can, and should, step outside your role when needed to ensure, for example, a customer's install is successful. This has tripped up and frustrated some ex-employees who expect to have defined positions that explain what they should (and should not) have to own.
