Pros

You learn more than you ever will again. The folks you work with are all wicked smart and on top of their stuff. You'll learn a lot from them about being a PM as well as a competent professional.

Cons

Workload is not manageable (if you want to have any semblance of a life). Company culture is to embrace more work on top of more work on top of more work. PM's at Epic are underpaid and under-appreciated.

Pros

Fun travel opportunities, work with a team of intelligent young people, and it makes every other job you'll have seem fun and easy in comparison

Cons

Where to start? Frankly, I wanted to love it. The buildings are fun, the food is great, and they tout a young workforce. But the culture is toxic - retaliation amongst the ranks, a management team made of people barely out of college, and leadership that's out of touch with reality. I'm still in Madison, and their Covid response has been dismal. I'm glad I got out when I did, as I'm watching friends who still work there be expected to come in and travel to their customers around the U.S.. Personally, I left because 60 hour work weeks with no overtime and a 50% travel culture wasn't sustainable for me. I was getting burnt out after my first year, and held on another 6 months before throwing in the towel. I didn't meet a single person without a quitting plan. And after Covid, I'll be interested to see how many they hold onto in their work force. If you're reading this to look for a sign, I'd say don't worry, there's so many other Dev and PM roles in Madison, and it can't hurt to explore your options.

Pros

Good money Opportunity to travel if that suits you Good opportunities once leaving as long as you’re wise enough to not get tricked into signing into a longer non-compete.

Cons

Very process heavy with no clarity on the processes-constantly changing and they are forced down your throat even when they don’t make sense If you don’t get involved internally you are expendable Judy is incredibly hard to listen to-her Senile stream of consciousness speaking style is rough Make sure you are careful about anything you sign-they are sneaky in trying to screw you over in extending your non-compete.
