Pros

Epic is one of the few companies where you don't need to wait for someone to leave to move up the ladder. It has a very flat structure which allows the most talented and hardest working employees to quickly become managers and even company leaders in 2-3 years. While I wouldn't say this is easy, or what most employees do, the opportunity is there. Epic is also a company where you can really choose your own adventure (provided it provides reasonable value of course). If you are passionate about something in particular or you identify a problem, you can usually work in that field and are empowered to make it better. Relatively speaking there is little red tape for a company of 10k people. Although many young people don't realize it, Epic has health insurance that is unbelievable. Incredibly low monthly cost to the employee, and essentially $0 deductible and copay. I know people who work for hospitals that don't have healthcare this good.

Cons

Job definitely involves a lot of travel. For me this was a plus early on because I got to see a lot of America for free on business trips. Once you have a family this can be more challenging. My experience is that Epic will try to work with you as much as can be expected.

Pros

Excellent benefits package, particularly the health insurance. You get the chance to work with a lot of talented people on a wide range of projects. If you enjoy travel, you'll have plenty of opportunities to see new places all over the country, and potentially even internationally.

Cons

The travel can get tedious, particularly if you have young children. There are a lot of Type A personalities, and occasionally you'll have to deal with folks who seek to climb the corporate ladder at the expense of others.

Pros

Epic has a strong culture that resounds throughout the company. Staff are friendly, supporting, and have a do whatever it takes attitude. The people are what makes Epic truly great. The campus, food, benefits are all a bonus on top of the people you get to work with. Management cares about their staff and wants to find a balance of what I enjoy and what I am good at which has helped shape my career. Sabbaticals are a great perk and something everyone should take advantage of!

Cons

Epic will push staff beyond their comfort zone. This is great for their growth but it can be too much for some if they are not comfortable speaking up. Turnover of staff is an issue that has improved but still needs to be a focus as it puts a strain on the organization.
