The downside to begin in a growing industry and company is that there are often times where you feel like you have too much work to do. There are times when you are working long hours, and this can get you down if it drags on for more than a short while. Although this may not be too bad for an individual who is fresh out of college, it’s something to consider for those with families or other commitments.
In order to mitigate this, it’s important to set expectations and timelines (both internally and with customers). As long as you continuously put in a lot of effort and are producing good work, both internal managers/co-workers and customers are understanding of the fact that you can’t get everything done all at once.
Another potential downside is the amount of travel, which has been more than typical over the past year. Initially, I got the impression that TS would travel once every 3-4 months, but in these past few months, it’s been closer to once every 1-2 months. The travel itself isn’t too bad, but while on-site at one customer, it is difficult to keep on top of your other work.
