Pros

It is very easy to get to know colleagues, and it's a cooperative climate rather than highly competitive.

Cons

They expect you to work a lot of hours every week and want to take on lots of projects. In some roles, you are expected to do a large amount of travel, including weekends and late night flights to and from your destinations. The workload is generally overwhelming, so it is very difficult to stay caught up and stay on top of completing projects. Many employees leave after 1 or 2 years from burnout and frustration. The company does not care that the turnover is very high.

Pros

- Excellent co-workers. The #1 reason to work at Epic is the amazing atmosphere and environment it creates. There's very little competition as the big push is for teamwork and collaboration to fuel creativity rather than jockeying for position for potential promotions. - Culture. No doubt about it, Epic preaches culture hard. The company strives to build a community that practices what they preach. - Compensation. There's few places that are hiring straight out of undergrad and will compensate to the degree that Epic does with no experience required. The company is driven to find self-motivated, enthusiastic go-getters.

Cons

- Hours. It's an unspoken rule that the more hours you put in the better. Epic has a reputation of hard working kids that burn out after a few years. Management does little to dispel this, and there's the sense that given the speed new folks turnover and are brought up to speed, pretty much anyone is expendable.

Pros

Challenging work keeps me interested. I am blessed to work with bright co-workers on a product that benefits people (as opposed to being a drain on society). I never feel like I am carrying someone else. Salary and benefits are excellent.

Cons

Challenging work keeps me busy. Hours can be long at times (not Success in one area brings responsibility in other areas - sometimes not related to my strengths. Most employees start young (just out of college) and single. They tend to make friends and socialze after work. Socializing with co-workers was much harder for me (a married man who had a family to go home to right after work).
