Pros

I learned the software which will give me a leg up in medical school

Cons

Zero work-life balance, your experience depends entirely upon your management, the environment at Epic is so competitive that your supposed "mentors" will throw you under the bus in order to appear better

Pros

Develop broad skill sets, and get a lot of experience quickly Get exposure to leadership either within Epic or working with customers quickly

Cons

Focus on productivity gets misinterpreted into number of hours worked, rather than working efficiently or producing high quality work. Disconnect for some TLs about importance of internal work versus customer work.

Pros

Epic is a great place to start a career. You learn a lot very quickly. And get experience working and giving advice to high-level management at top hospitals. Epic truly cares about its customers. You will always feel like you are doing the right thing ethically. In three years I've never felt anything but proud of the way Epic conducts itself.

Cons

Epic does not punish you for trying to have a work-life balance but it certainly does not discourage people who work long hours. You can be successful working a 50-hour work week but many folks end up working far more because no one tells them it is okay to work less. Once you figure out how to have a work-life balance epic is a very good company.
