Pros

Beautiful Campus, Great food. Good money, but not sure how it stacks up to other companies like Google

Cons

Very old technology, clunky product, many hours of uninteresting classes, projects, and exams. I am in an office all by myself, which sounds nice, but there's no windows (probably not common, but still), and it is very hard for me to meet other people, especially other software developers besides the ones in my team, and even then it's hard to get to know them. Within the past year Epic now has all SD-related classes done on your own in your own office, which means I don't get to meet any of the new recruits. This was a terrible move in my opinion. There seems to be this philosophy that putting all of the developers in seclusion makes them more productive, but this has had the opposite effect on me. My team lead and mentor have both been extremely nice, but this has not alleviated my concerns. I have an offer from Google and will leaving Epic within the month.

Pros

Growing company, good benefits and pay

Cons

Location is bad. Madison is very cold and they have no branches. Micro management is painful and your evaluation is dependent on your Team lead's gut feeling about you.

Pros

Madison was an amazing place to live Great salary Beautiful campus

Cons

The tech stack is extremely outdated (they're finally transitioning to web, but I only worked with visual basic and mumps) My work consisted of fixing bugs in old code - the one project I was given was never even started, because we could never get a design approved They try to sell you on how amazing the campus is - it's beautiful, but there's nothing beyond that Everybody drinks the kool-aid No working from home, they advertise flexible hours but you're required to be in the office by 9 All in all, they compare themselves to Google and Facebook but the perks don't even come close to comparing
