Pros

Challenging work environment that provides meaningful work Surrounded by young, motivated, and intelligent co-workers in a supportive community Great travel perks and benefits if you enjoy life on the road

Cons

Demanding expectations to satisfy customers results in long hours and a culture of burnout Lengthy interview process

Pros

- you get to work with incredibly intelligent and driven people - responsibility and leadership opportunities are given to high performers rather than based on tenure - cost of living in Wisconsin is cheap - unique campus and office space - pay is good to very good depending on the hours you end up working

Cons

- difficult to have work/life balance and advance career at the same time - senior management is entrenched in old ways and is reactive once an employee is burned out rather than taking steps to prevent it - benefits need improvement: no paid maternity or paternity leave, 401k match is below average - little to no transparency in how raises and staffing assignments are decided - most TLs have no experience in management and little is done to give them real education/experience in this area - executive leadership often has ludicrous ideas on how to develop or create a process in-house rather than procuring software solutions or learning from how multinational corporations handle it - there is little investment in career development for employees there 2-3+ years

Pros

The campus is super cool and Madison is a great town. The pay will likely be higher than any other offers you'll receive.

Cons

The day I decided to leave Epic there were two girls standing outside my office talking about how they got so trashed the night before that one of them had pissed the bed. Epic is a continuation of college in both great and terrible ways. Yes, it's fun to hang out with a bunch of young people at this exciting stage, yet a lot of people there aren't ready for the responsibilities and make it a miserable environment. I'm willing to admit that I may have been stuck with the worst of Epic. Maybe life was brighter on a different team. But hey, if you're looking to have enough money that you can just go buy a new pair of sheets after drinking too much, then Epic will be the perfect place for you.
