Pros

Epic hires a lot of people straight out of college, so in a lot of ways it felt like I was in college again in my first few months of work, especially during the training months. It does make it easy to meet people your age and make friends. People at the company are generally very very nice. The only times I had issues with my coworkers were dealing with my team lead (more on that in the cons). My job here taught me a lot of basic skills about working a corporate job, especially in terms of communication, team work, and managing expectations. While I had a rough last few months before I ultimately left, I absolutely do not regret my time here and I am appreciative of all that I learned at Epic.

Cons

Work and quality of life is very team/team lead dependent. Certain teams have more toxic/churn and burn mentality while others are a bit more laid back. The same could be said for team leads. Whether or not your team lead likes you will almost completely dictate what your life will be like. I got along really well with my first team lead and he was very understanding of my learning curve. My second team lead was extremely tough on me and we did not see eye to eye a single bit. I left the company a few months after getting switched to that second lead because it was severely impacting my mental health. From a skills perspective, the tech stack used at Epic is not the most transferrable. For most teams, you probably won't be working on something particularly innovative. There is a lot of fixing bugs and trying to maintain a massive codebase that is not well documented.
