Pros

High energy, fun environment and lots of potential

Cons

Company growth has empowered officers to feel overconfident in their long term projections. Outside consulting firms have a competitive advantage to develop operational efficiencies for end users and yet this does not concern company execs. There is a weak long term plan for the company after initial sale.

Pros

I worked at Epic straight out of college. During my time there I was miserable, but in retrospect the experience was unmatched. I became a rockstar at my next job (totally unrelated to heathcare) immediately because of the level of work I was required to do at Epic. I am now a consultant at a big firm and making six figures, something that I would not have been able to do without my experience at Epic

Cons

I pretty much agree with everything everyone else said. Terrible management, a contest for who works the most hours, your standing and projects depend on the quality of your TL. I think my biggest problem that I didn't see mentioned above is the commitment to multiple clients. Epic sets the expectation with the customer what you will be there for them all the time, but its just not possible it you have multiple clients all across the country. I was told over and over that I would have to learn that 70% done is good enough. I don't think that's fair when your clients are spending millions of dollars to install a business critical system.
